Mindfulness Workshops
Are you feeling stressed or overloaded with school or homework? Do you get nervous or anxious about quizzes and tests? Do you struggle with staying focused?
Mindfulness, or “paying attention on purpose”, is a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, emotions, sensations, and environment. Mindfulness meditation practice has been shown to significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety, stress, and depression and can lead to increases in concentration, empathy, emotional intelligence, self esteem, and well-being. Recent studies have even shown that students who meditate before an exam perform better than students who do not. Our workshops include guided meditation instruction, interactive activities, and group discussion to help support an ongoing mindfulness practice. Students will learn awareness and concentration practices to help settle a busy mind, direct and sustain attention, and skillfully handle emotions and thoughts.
